College grading system questions?

so i got a 12% on a log assignment on an english course but its an A also i got a 50% percent on an essay witch is a C+ so im confused? its not like the regular high school grade system so im so confused? please help me understand this grading system. also my overall grade is a 31.5% so i dont know the grade letter to that.
